After looking at all of the paperwork Charlie's old owner, Russell, gave me I have a bit of a better understanding of where he came from.
He was originally purchased from a pet store in Beverly Hills, it looks like he came from a "breeder" in North Carolina. His people had him for about a year, then he hit his teenager time and they either gave him to Russell or Russell got him at a shelter in LA, it is a bit unclear and Russell never really said. Russel has had him since then. About a year ago his companion dog, Mollie, passed away and Russell started traveling a lot for his work - Russell decided the best thing to do was try to find him a new home before his next long trip. Enter me - Charlie's old petsitter knows a friend of mine and she happened to post about the situation on a pet chat board we both belong to. I am a sucker for a needy animal so after meeting him and then keeping him for a weekend we realized that we would be a good "retirement home" for Charlie and decided to take a chance with him.
Welcome to your new home Charlie dog. Now we have to decide if we want to call him Charlie or Chuck, or choose another name. Charlie and Harley just doesn't work - Harley always thinks we are talking to her and Charlie is a bit hard of hearing so I don't think he really cares.
